We went to Travnik for an afternoon visit. This was the first bigger stop on Spalatobahn after it left the valley of Bosna. It is an important town for islam, hosting a medresa, islamic school. Medresa is located by the entrance to the town and the railway went just near it. This was the time to test my newly purchased (although second hand) drone for some shots from above. While flying the drone above the busy road, with not much experience, I somewhat panicked when a big truck approached and hit a branch with the drone. Drone went crashing down, hitting the road. Damn it. That is what you get for being too cocky. And to think I even wanted to do fly-throughs of tunnels! That was it with the drone for now. Anyways, I did some snaps around medresa, which remains the most prominent feat on old pictures.

All in all the visit to Travnik was not very successful. One place was overgrown, impossible without a drone. One place I could not locate – seemed like the main road, but houses on the side did not match the view. But Tvrdjava, the fortress, is very nice, with stunning views, and the city center hosts a steam locomotive, which was renovated in 2012 and moved to the center of the city as a memorial. You can find more here.

Former train station serves today as a bus station.

Travnik is a historic and pretty town.
